Now you can save up to 30% of the electricity that your home air conditioner uses on hot summer days. You know that a big electric bill is coming when you hear your A/C laboring all day and still losing the battle to keep the house cool.

The AC Spritzer® precooler works on the principle of evaporative cooling to reduce the temperature at the condenser coil. Other products exist, but our product is unique in that it only operates when evaporation is effective, and it has a patent pending filter to capture minerals in the water.

AC Spritzer® precooler benefits:

  • increases cooling capacity
  • reduces electricity usage
  • reduces pollution & CO2
  • filter reduces condenser coil cleaning from grass clippings, leaves, cottonwood, dirt, etc. extends compressor life by reducing operating pressure
  • may qualify for 30% tax credit for home energy efficiency upgrades - consult your tax adviser for details

There are many other ways that you can save money and help conserve natural resources. All are good, but some are better investments than others. We compare five different energy conservation methods here.

AC Spritzer® precoolers have:

  • a rugged control valve that allows water to flow only when the AC unit is running and the outdoor temperature is above an adjustable set-point,
  • simple misting nozzles on removable mounts, and
  • a filter to capture unevaporated mist and prevent limescale build up on the condenser coil.

As the outdoor temperature rises, the air conditioner’s compressor must work harder, consuming more electricity, to try to cool the house. This has diminishing effectiveness: the AC unit uses more electricity and has less cooling capacity for every degree hotter it gets outside.

AC Spritzer® precoolers create a cloud of mist around the condensing unit which quickly evaporates and cools the air entering the condenser coil by 12 to 20 F in moderately humid climates like North Texas. You can actually hear the compressor quiet down and work more efficiently to add about 6% to 12% in cooling capacity. Results are even better in drier climates like AZ, NV, and Southern CA.

This will lower the indoor temperature by about 2.5F in a typical home. The mist will also reduce the peak electrical power by 10% to 16%. This combined reduction in runtime and in power consumed can yield an efficiency improvement and savings of over 30%. In other words, a 9.0 SEER unit can be improved to a 12.0 SEER unit, at a cost substantially less than a new A/C system.

The graph above shows how reduced runtime from increased cooling capacity and decreased electrical power use saved 31% on a 98F day with misting (blue) compared to a 98F day without misting (red). Misting also saves wear and tear on the compressor which in turn extends its life.

Enjoy savings and cooler indoor temperatures!

The AC Spritzer® precooler requires only occasional maintenanceand will give years of savings and benefits:

  • the mister nozzles will require a little brushing with a wire brush (included) or cleaning in an anti-scale solution, depending upon your water’s hardness (mineral content)… replacement nozzles are also available
  • the filter will typically need to be replaced once or twice during the cooling season

While the majority of the misted water evaporates (roughly 2/3 of misted water in moderately humid climates), some will fall on the ground around the condensing unit. Therefore, the owner should inspect the area around the unit to insure that the mist and water runoff will not cause any inadvertent damage or hazards
