FAQ

Can I install the AC Spritzer 200 myself?

The AC Spritzer is designed to be installed by the homeowner.  You do not need an electrician, a plumber, or an HVAC technician.  We do not tap into the freon lines.  Everything you need to install it yourself is included in the AC Spritzer 200 package.  The Installation / Users guide can be found on our Residential page or you can click here: AC Spritzer Installation Guide

Will the spraying of water hurt my condensing unit?

The water misting will not hurt the coil of your condensing unit due to the patent pending filter that keeps minerals, cottonwood, and other debris off the coil.

Will the filter affect the air flow through the condensing unit?

The filter will not restrict any air flow through the coil. After testing dirty filters, we find there is at most a negligible air flow drop to the coil. Dirty filters keep out debris, but not air flow.

Will my water bill go up a lot?

No, the AC Spritzer™ uses about half of the water lost or used from an average swimming pool. The AC Spritzer™ uses about 560 gallons per week at peak usage.

How often do the filters need to be replaced?

We suggest you put a new set on in the spring (May 1st), and that you change them at least once during the summer (Aug 1st). If you live in an area with very hard water, and or dusty environment, you may need to change them twice during the summer. At the end of the summer, you should leave them on to protect the coil from debris during the winter, thus avoiding a coil cleaning the following spring.

Will the system work on a heat pump?

Yes, the AC Spritzer™ will work just as well on a heat pump as a cooling only unit.

Will it work on an old unit?

Yes, in fact it will help the unit to be more efficient and may help to extend the life of the unit.

Will it work on a new unit?

Yes, even on the new high efficiency unit the AC Spritzer™ will help during the heat of the day to use less electricity.

When will the AC Spritzer™ mist?

The AC Spritzer™ only mists when the condensing unit is running, and when the outside air temperature is above the temperature setting on our electronic controller. The default is 90F, and that is a good setting for the North Texas area. In more arid climates, the temperature setting on the controller would be effective at 80F to 85F.

What kind of maintenance is required for the AC Spritzer™?

The maintenance required for the AC Spritzer™ consists of changing the filter and cleaning or changing the mist nozzles when necessary. The mist nozzles will become clogged from time to time due to the minerals in the water. They can be cleaned by 1) brushing them with the stainless steel brush that was included in the kit, or 2) they can be soaked in CLR or similar cleaner, or 3) they can be replaced.

I have two units next to each other; is this a problem?

No, that is not a problem. We suggest that if two units are next to each other and you decide to put an AC Spritzer™ on only one unit, you should put a filter kit on the unit without the AC Spritzer™. This will protect the coils from the spray of the other unit. The unit with just the filter kit will also have some benefit from the mist of the AC Spritzer™ on the other unit.

What if the nozzles quit spraying?

The nozzles will get clogged and quit spraying from time to time. This is caused by the minerals in the water. The nozzles can be brushed with the stainless steel brush that is included with every system. The nozzles can be removed and soaked in CLR or a similar cleaner, and then put back in the stem.

What do I do with it in the winter?

You should turn off and disconnect the water to protect from freezing. You can leave the filter on the unit through the winter to help protect the coil from grass clippings and other debris.

Will my house get humid inside from the AC Spritzer™?

The AC Spritzer™ will not make your house more humid, since all the moisture stays outside on the condensing unit.
